Loquendo TTS Now Available For Mac OS X Application Developers in 23 Languages

Speech technology provider, Loquendo, has announced that its Loquendo TTS technology is now available for developers of multimedia applications on Apple's (News - Alert) Mac OS X operating system, in versions 10.4 and later.

 
Loquendo TTS uses high performing algorithms to enable synthesis of different languages and voices simultaneously, switching between them at any time and on any channel.
 
With this, Loquendo (News - Alert) TTS is capable of reading all kind of data and prompts in any kind of voice application.
 
The company says notes it is suitable for server-based, multimedia, embedded and multimodal voice applications, and its multi-threaded, multi-process configuration supports deployment in software architectures.
 
Moreover, TTS Pronunciation Lexicon ensures that specialized vocabulary, abbreviations, acronyms and even regional pronunciation differences sound just as the developer intends them to.
 
According to company officials, the characteristics of each voice - pitch, speaking rate and volume - can be fine tuned and fully controlled and special formats such as phone numbers, currencies and e-mail addresses can be read correctly.
 
“Loquendo’s truly lifelike TTS means there’s no need for costly, time-consuming pre-recording, and it enables the rapid deployment of vocal services that customers will love using,” the company said.
 
Mac OS X, Loquendo TTS supports: Windows Latin ASCII encoding; the XCode 2.1 and higher developer tools; C, C++ and Objective C development languages.
 
Recently, AvMap, provider of satellite navigation solutions and fleet tracking systems, also selected Loquendo Embedded TTS to power its GPS navigator, Geosat 6.
