REDCOM Laboratories announced it has completed SIP interoperability testing for its HDX and SLICE 2100 Carrier-Class 4/5 softswitches with a wide range of SoundPoint IP phones from Polycom.
For trials with Polycom (News - Alert) -- a provider of telepresence, video and voice communication solutions -- REDCOM tested several Polycom SoundPoint IP models, as well as the VVX 1500 Business Media Phone (News - Alert), in its Victor, N.Y., lab, to ensure compatibility with its HDX and SLICE softswitch solutions.
The lab tests verified 100 percent integration and functionality between the Polycom VoIP phones and REDCOM’s (News - Alert) HDX and SLICE 2100 SIP call control platforms.
Gerald Totsline, director of engineering at REDCOM, said that SIP is supposed to be a standard that eliminates many of the challenges with integrating systems from different vendors. However, interoperability is not something that can be assumed or taken for granted.
Totsline said that SIP interoperability testing is a good method of verification to ensure that when two SIP-based solutions are actually deployed that they will work together flawlessly.
“In our lab tests, what we found was a seamless, problem-free integration that verified interoperability between the Polycom SIP endpoints and the REDCOM SIP call managers,” Totsline said, adding that these SIP-based products from Polycom and REDCOM are totally interoperable.
Thanks to the verified SIP interoperability between the Polycom IP handsets and SIP-based REDCOM HDX and SLICE 2100 softswitches, commercial customers can now deploy these VoIP solutions without compromising functionality, said REDCOM officials.
REDCOM’s HDX and SLICE 2100 are softswitches and SIP call managers that retain complete Class 4/5 capabilities in a single platform solution. TRANSip is the suite behind REDCOM’s HDX and SLICE 2100. It’s designed to provide a complete, integrated VoIP-TDM solution, said company officials.
Company officials said that by coupling enhanced VoIP capabilities with the functionality of the existing TDM network, TRANSip helps service providers to respond to consumer demands for next-generation services.
