BlueNote Networks' SOA-based SessionSuite Helps WorldWinner Stay in the Game

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

Service oriented architecture (SOA) solutions provider BlueNote Networks (News - Alert) announced Monday that its SessionSuite solution is are now being used by WorldWinner (a subsidiary of FUN Technologies, Inc.) to provide Internet telephony services for its remote employee base.

WorldWinner, which provides online game competitions for cash and prizes, selected SessionSuite because of its scalable and feature-rich capabilities. The company is using the solution to extend its corporate voice services, via the Internet, to remote offices, teleworkers, and traveling employees.

Because SessionSuite is Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP)-based, WorldWinner can use third-party SIP phones at its remote locations. The company also is using SessionSuite to integrate telephony functions into desktop business applications. This means employees can manage and control phone calls from their PCs, regardless of physical location. Thanks to SessionSuite, WorldWinner remote workers now have seamless access to the company’s corporate voice services, just like their headquarters-based counterparts.

All of this, without breaking the bank, either; SessionSuite was selected by WorldWinner in large part because, while it is robust, it is also affordable.

“Choosing BlueNote was a simple decision for us because we needed an efficient and cost-effective answer to connect our distributed workers to the voice and data applications that are key to running our business,” explained Mike Frank, vice president of operations at WorldWinner, in a statement.

Frank continued: “Running on industry standard servers, BlueNote's software solutions were easy and quick to deploy and enabled us to provide our employees with intuitive Internet-facing telephony capabilities out of the box. BlueNote's desktop application integration, combined with its ability to leverage both our existing IT infrastructure and the Internet, provides us more time and resources to concentrate on the heart of our business - developing industry-leading online games services.”

Sally Bament, vice president of marketing and product management at BlueNote, added that WorldWinner’s selection of SessionSuite is further validation BlueNote’s products are meeting the need for innovative communication solutions in a variety of vertical industries.

“Market innovators, like WorldWinner, continue to recognize the importance of BlueNote's ability to leverage existing IT infrastructure investments along with the economics and global reach of the Internet, to quickly integrate IP telephony services into business processes to improve productivity, collaboration and customer reach,” Bament said in a statement.

WorldWinner’s business is focused on the competitions it hosts online—involving games such as Solitaire, Bejeweled 2, SCRABBLE Cubes, Luxor and Zuma. These competitions are hosted both on WorldWinner’s own Web site and through partners. The company hosts more than 20 million tournaments each month.

Branch offices extending WorldWinner’s Newton, Massachusetts headquarters are located in Los Angeles. The company also relies on remote workers located throughout the U.S.
