Small Business VoIP Spending to Approach $16 Billion by 2015, Says In-Stat

 By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Small business VoIP spending will approach $16 billion by 2015, according to a new reasearch by In-Stat (News - Alert).

"Wireline voice, although not growing in any significant way, is holding steady across all sizes of business," said Greg Potter, in a statement.

"One service segment we see that could be vulnerable due to alternative technologies like VoIP is international long distance services. Even though the total dollar spend remains high, we see negative growth over the forecast period," said Potter.

The In-Stat research, US Business Spending by Size of Business and Vertical, 2010-2015: Wireline Voice Services provides forecasts of US business wireline voice services spending for the 2010-2015 period with detailed segmentation by product category, size of business, and vertical market.

The research noted that in small business, the hospitality and food vertical will spend the most on wireline voice services, reaching $2 billion by 2012.

According to research finding, total toll-free service expenditures is expected to increase by $134 million over the 5-year forecast period and enterprise spending in the government segment will reach $4.7 billion by 2015.

In-Stat in its research noted that SOHO will spend $267 million on other services in 2015, which includes audio-conferencing services, outbound calling services, and pre-paid calling.

TMCnet recently reported that the worldwide Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) market is set to grow to roughly $4 billion by 2015, according to a survey by In-Stat .

IaaS growth will primarily be driven by the small business market. Small business is likely to account for over half of the market in IaaS and software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)).

Thanks to the entry of new platforms for applications, such as Google Apps and Force.com, SaaS applications are gaining visibility among businesses to gain traction in the software market.
