BroadSoft's BroadWorks VoIP Platform and SIP Server Avaya Compliance

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

BroadSoft, a provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application software, has announced today that the latest release of its BroadWorks VoIP application platform and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) application server is compliant with key SIP solutions from Avaya (News - Alert).

The BroadWorks 14.SP2 release platform provides a comprehensive range of VoIP applications that include Hosted Unified Communications (News - Alert), Mobile PBX, Business and SIP Trunking and Residential broadband services.

The application is now compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya SIP Enablement Services 4.0 and Avaya Communication Manager 4.0.1.

"Achieving compliance with Avaya brings real value to our business customers," said Scott Wharton, vice president of Marketing for BroadSoft, in a Wednesday statement.

"Solutions built on open-standards-based platforms help business customers incorporate new technology easily and cost-effectively and allows them to get more out of their communications infrastructure."

The interoperability of BroadSoft and Avaya solutions provides benefits to XO Communications (News - Alert), a company providing VoIP, data, Internet and managed services to businesses, government and carrier customers throughout the nation.

"Working with an integrated solution that's tested for interoperability, we are able to avoid the time, cost and risk that comes with trying an untested solution," said Nicola Jackson, director of IP and Converged Services at XO Communications, in Wednesday’s statement.

As a Gold member of the Avaya DevConnect (News - Alert) program, BroadSoft is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing. A team of engineers at the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab in Lincroft, N.J. develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant.

Such testing provides companies with the assurance that the solutions that they are adding are truly offering best-in-class capabilities for their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure. As such, these companies can speed deployment of new applications and reduce both network complexity and implementation costs.

"By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like BroadSoft who are members of our DevConnect community, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya, in Wednesday’s statement.

"They are able to use Intelligent Communications to connect employees and customers to information from wherever they are, over whatever device they have available -- getting more out of their multivendor network and delivering new value to their bottom
line."

This latest announcement from BroadSoft is verification that those companies considering implementing the BroadWorks solution will be implementing best-in-class capabilities within the enterprise.

BroadSoft will also certainly benefit from its association with the Avaya brand and its membership in the Avaya DevConnect community. As a result, the company will enjoy greater reach and expanded opportunities that may not be available without the Avaya brand.
