Small Business VoIP Debate: Google Voice vs. Toktumi
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
The small business stands to gain considerable value from VoIP solutions as they help to streamline communications and bring all activities onto one platform. Google Voice has gained considerable attention in the Small Business VoIP space, but Toktumi (News - Alert) also offers many of the same benefits. With both at the disposal of the small business, which one is better?
This Toktumi blog examined the differences between the two platforms to determine which one makes the most sense for Small Business VoIP. The big focus in this piece was the reality that Google (News - Alert) Voice tends to be an optimal platform for consumers, but may not ideal for business users. This blog explores how Toktumi offers value over the Google Voice platform where business customers are concerned.
First, Toktumi Small Business VoIP solutions include a powerful auto-attendant. This is important for that small business that wants to appear larger and more equipped to compete in the market. Second, the Toktumi platform offers support for multiple employees receiving calls and managing their own dedicated lines. This is considered to be critical for any business operating with more than one person.
Toktumi also shines in that the company offers customer support for Small Business VoIP. At the same time, this platform allows business users to easily port in a number, while also providing 800 numbers. Finally, Toktumi offers a powerful softphone that is designed to be deeply integrated with the company’s Small Business VoIP software.
Interestingly, this blog writer is not the first to argue that Google Voice may not be the optimal platform for Small Business VoIP users. An article shared on TruVoIPBizz highlighted a number of additional problems Google Voice may present in this environment, including delays in the receipt of calls, issues with reliability, concerns over privacy and no free calling for in-network calls.
Make note that all calls between Toktumi users anywhere in the world are free, which is a perk that should be present in Small Business VoIP platforms. While the debate may still be raging and Google may have something to say in response, the reality is that based on these descriptions along, Toktumi offers a better experience in Small Business VoIP that can easily be measured in performance and overall satisfaction.
