Global Crossing Extends VoIP Across Asia

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Global Crossing, a global IP solutions provider, has announced expanded VoIP access options in Japan, China, Singapore, India and Thailand to support the rising demand in the region for Ready-Access, the company’s flagship on-demand reservation-less audio conferencing service.

"By bringing the network closer to the end-user, wherever he or she may be, Global Crossing continues its commitment to a rich customer experience," said Gary Breauninger, Global Crossing's chief marketing officer, in a Monday statement.

"Expansion of VoIP access options and collaboration services into these five key countries is a direct result of the growing demand for our collaboration services in Asia."

Customers in Asia have displayed strong demand for collaboration services during the last three years. Breauninger noted that as a result, plans are underway to extend collaboration service throughout South Korea by the first half of 2008.

Global Crossing earlier this year extended Ready-Access to customers in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand via new VoIP platform access options in the region.

As cost-cutting and travel reduction initiatives increase worldwide, enterprise customers are demanding cost-effective, streamlined collaboration services. Global Crossing can ensure improved quality of service, reliability and cost-effective connectivity for enterprise customers in that region by continuing the extend Ready-Access through local VoIP platform access options in Asia.

These customers can now have access to Global Crossing’s Global “800” Service, instead of relying on third-party providers to carry traffic to Global Crossing’s network.

As Global Crossing offers a broad presence in the region, customers can take advantage of a global pool of highly scalable audio bridges, in addition to back-up bridges for redundancy and disaster recovery.

Global Crossing’s Asia Regional Operations Center (AROC) in Hong Kong also provides local, multilingual customer service. In addition, Mobile access is now available throughout China.Find Solutions for Enterprises, SMBs & Service Providers at the INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference and EXPO East - January 23-25, 2008 in Miami Beach, FL.

Global Crossing provides the enterprise with access to a full suite of converged IP collaboration services to address virtually any meeting need. Audio conferencing services include Ready-Access, Global “800” Service, VoIP Ready-Access; Event Call, Event Express Call and Automated Event Call.

Customers throughout the world can be connected to Global Crossing’s audio collaboration platform using a mix of toll-free and local access methods. Web conferencing services include such offers as Ready-Access Web Meeting, eMeeting and Global Crossing Live Meeting.

Videoconferencing services include iVideoconferencing, IP Video, Ready-Access Video, and Video Endpoint Management Service supporting both ISDN and IP-based end points.

This extension by Global Crossing effectively cuts out the “middle man” in providing advanced IP services and quality VoIP to satisfy the increasing demand in Asia. This not only delivers the services that these customers want, it also opens up significant revenue opportunities for Global crossing in addition to expanded options for delivering what is needed to effectively protect its base.
