Sagemcom, a major provider of IP fax services, announced that Presidio, a provider of managed IT services, had won its Partner of the Year award for unified communications.

“For the first time, we want to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the top Sagemcom partners”, Sagemcom Canada General Manager Jean Champagne (News - Alert) said. “Presidio is an excellent partner for Sagemcom and it’s with great pleasure we recognize their efforts through this award.”

Sagemcom (News - Alert) said it gave the award to Presidio because it had demonstrated expertise with Sagemcom’s XMediusFax IP fax software, as well as its commitment to Sagemcom and its customer base.

The company explained that it allies with businesses that have common goals, and Presidio is one of them. XMediusFax allows Presidio to offer Fax over IP (FoIP) as part of its unified communications services.

While faxing might seem like an antiquated technology in the age of ubiquitous e-mail, there are many industries that still demand it. Companies like Sagemcom are making faxes easier to integrate into modern technology. Sagemcom’s software can convert faxes sent to a server to a PDF that can be sent in an e-mail attachment, making printing unnecessary and faxing easier on the environment. Moreover, faxes can be sent using SIP networks the way VoIP messages can.

This is not the only recognition that Presidio has received. In September, InformationWeek named the company as part of its InformationWeek 500, an annual list of the world’s most innovative tech companies.
