USTelecom (News - Alert), the premier broadband trade association representing service providers and suppliers for the telecom industry, has joined hands with The SIP School to offer training in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to its members.
SIP is the underlying protocol of VoIP, voice over LTE (News - Alert) and is the fundamental building block of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture.
USTelecom’s member-driven approach includes year-round professional development opportunities like those offered by The SIP School that are designed to cater to the schedules of busy professionals, professionals who cannot afford the time to attend formal days long seminars.
Officials with USTelecom said that the course registrants will learn about the fundamentals of the SIP protocol, quality of service, VoIP with Firewalls/NATs, SIP Trunking, Session Border Controllers, ENUM, VoIP Peering, SIP Trunking, Testing and Troubleshooting, Fax over IP, SIP Security, and much more.
According to association officials, the self-paced course is designed with lively and animated eLearning materials. Each course module also provides testing and feedback at the end of the module to reinforce the concepts presented.
Industry experts were of the opinion that the SIP protocol has become the foundation of multi-media communications all over the world. The growth of Unified Communications (News - Alert) (UC) has demonstrated the value in learning how SIP works and how it is applied to multimedia communications. It is the underlying protocol of VoIP, voice over LTE. It is the fundamental building block of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture that major carriers and service providers are implementing.
According to industry watchers, SIP has grown to become the standard trunking to the PSTN, trunk peering between IP networks, IP phone support, connecting to application servers and supporting IM.
Upon course completion, registrants have the opportunity to become certified as a SIP School Certified Associate (SSCA) by taking the online test, and join about 1000 registrants already qualified for the SSCA. This is a globally recognized SIP certification among voice and video system manufacturers, service providers, and carriers.
Other courses from The SIP School are available including ‘Networking 4 VoIP’ that is focused on people migrating from the TDM to VoIP environments and need a solid knowledge foundation in TCP/IP networking that carries VoIP. An additional option is ‘SIP Communications for Sales and Marketing Professionals’ which teaches people about the marketplace, how to develop and then sell Unified Converged services, Hosted PBX (News - Alert) or SIP trunking services. These courses also have recognized certifications.
