EasyLink Services (News - Alert) International, a global provider of cloud-based messaging services and e-commerce solutions, announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has selected EasyLink’s Fax2Mail desktop fax messaging services.

Tactical Digital, EasyLink Services International’s government sales partner, won a five-year material blanket purchase agreement for deploying the fax messaging services.

Leveraging their existing e-mail infrastructure, the United States Department of Agriculture’s offices will start replacing fax machines with EasyLink’s cloud-based fax services.

EasyLink’s IP Fax service will assist the USDA to reduce operating costs by eliminating hardware, supply, and telecom line costs. The USDA will also increase productivity by sending and receiving fax transmissions from the desktop. Reliability with unlimited scalability, secure delivery, and detailed tracking reports will also be achieved.

“The United States government is following the lead of private business in moving to cloud computing solutions, and we are connecting with more IT leaders who are looking to retire aging fax infrastructures and replace them with secure, electronic delivery,” said Scott McMillan, president of Tactical Digital, in a statement.

“Fax messaging is still a critical means of communication within the government space, and the USDA will recognize immediate savings through EasyLink’s on-demand technology model,” McMillan added.

Tactical Digital, EasyLink’s government sales partner and GSA (News - Alert) Schedule contract holder, is a small business firm that specializes in the sale of cloud computing services to federal, state and local governments as well as educational institutions.
