Network monitoring solutions are essential to the security and efficiency of any datacenter, or IT operation. Historically monitoring a network has required premise based appliance with IT professional support to ensure that everything runs smoothly in embedded installations. That changes this week with the NetOptic’s release of the appTap network and application monitoring device that can be deployed in remote installations and provide visibility without the need for more costly and resource demanding alternatives.
“Small satellite offices and remote branch sites face the same network and application management challenges of large data centers, but have few or no engineers on staff and smaller IT budgets,” said Sharon Besser (News - Alert), vice president of technology for NetOptics. “Even one instance of business downtime can result in a loss of thousands of dollars and long-term damage to the business image. appTap prevents these losses by enabling total visibility into both network traffic and
application performance, helping to quickly isolate problems before they interrupt the business and affect revenues.”
Called appTap, the device can supplement the infrastructure of remote branch networks with both a remote monitoring solution and a built-in Tap. When they add the appTap to a monitoring strategy, businesses can detect and resolve problems in real-time before they affect business continuity, competitiveness and revenue. appTap captures and analyzes network traffic, application activity and can monitor Voice over IP calls. By making note of any information bottle necks and pinpointing performance issues the appTap adds the intelligence remote installations need to address most of their concerns.
"The combination of appTap's network, application and session monitoring integrated with a built-in Tap and monitoring ports is brilliant,” said Steve Urquhart, co-founder and managing director of Triplelayer Networks. “NetOptics is addressing a market segment that is not served by other types of solutions available today. We anticipate a high customer demand for a cost-effective product like appTap.”
The addition of this remote monitoring solution, allows companies with embedded networks to address issues without need for onsite tools.
