ProQueSys LLC has announced that it is now shipping FlowTraq Lite, a new version of its full-fidelity network monitoring, security and forensics flow analyzer geared specifically for lower traffic networks. As a network access tool, FlowTraq Lite is designed to deliver the same fast, actionable intelligence as the standard version to help IT departments to quickly recover and mitigate risk as a result of security breaches.
With a focus on complementing and improving existing network operations, FlowTraq Lite offers all of the security, monitoring and forensics features inherent in network access solution FlowTraq, although with limited input flow rates. These rates are less than 100 flows per second as this product aims to help IT administrators to find data leaks in the network, investigate compromises and monitor network usage.
Commenting on the Lite solution in statement, Vince Berk, CEO of ProQueSys said, "FlowTraq Lite is built on the fundamental principle of speed-to-information. We help you identify the source and scope of the problem, and anticipate threats before they occur, so you can be back to business sooner. We now offer an affordable solution for the SMB market that provides the same power as FlowTraq."
This network usage can include bandwidth consumption, applications in use and changes in behavior or network activity that could indicate a problem. When network access should be limited only to those with the authority to operate on the network, monitoring should be in place to ensure consistent operation. At the same time, those using the network need to have the freedom to accomplish their desired tasks so they can get their job done.
The concept of network access is an important one in organizations with a higher standard of protection for its users, such as school districts. IT managers not only have to keep predators away from users, they must also be sure that users are limited in what they can accomplish on the network. In other words, students should not be able to leverage the network to stream the latest updates on Facebook (News - Alert) or download their favorite movie from Netflix.
Marion Bates, a NH/VT District Technology Director, noted, "In our public school district of 2000 students and no content filter, we had a serious problem with P2P file sharing and streaming video. Thanks to FlowTraq, we have both the bandwidth throttling and the P2P patterns well under control. FlowTraq tells us everything that's happening on the network, in real time. We can finally see the whole picture."
A view of the whole picture is what every IT manager desires when he or she must monitor network access. With the FlowTraq Lite, they can easily gain the tools they need to drive an optimal and secure experience for all users.
