NMS Communications is offering the entire telecom audience an in-depth look at the history and evolution of mobile with an updated wireless tutorial now available HERE.
The offering, "Wireless Tutorial: 2G, 3G, 4G and Beyond," provides an inside look at mobile radio, evolving network architecture, services, applications and business models as well as highlights alternative 4G paths and the potential for convergence of GSM/LTE and WiMAX (News - Alert).
NMS Communications offers developers the tools and technologies they need to quickly produce mobile applications. And with the increased demand for mobile services, operators and developers are now looking at a number of new revenue possibilities and how to best achieve them.
“It’s very exciting what’s happening. Mobile video in places like China is taking off, and all of that legacy circuit-switched equipment out there means that SIGTRAN is becoming very important, along with BICC and related protocols. The future will be an amalgam of past-gen and next-gen technologies. A lot of TDM will be traveling over IP,” Turner said in a recent TMC (News - Alert) interview.
The latest wireless tutorial not only offers background information on this subject, but also discusses the longer term impact of Wi-Fi standards on fixed and mobile wireless services and is offered in a 3 part Webinar Series.

Part 2: Webinar
Part 3: Webinar
Brough Turner (News - Alert), NMS' Chief Technology Officer, explained that this latest version is an update to a 3G tutorial he and Marc Orange of NMS put together in 2002. Because the information has since been highly requested, and because there are a numbers of new, more advanced technologies, the tutorial was updated.
Brough also commented in his blog that while this latest tutorial was long due, there is still more needed to completely cover the array of possible wireless topics.
In the wireless tutorial, Brough also covers core network architectures and their evolution to all-IP, new wireless applications and application frameworks, spectrum licensing and more. Check it all out HERE.
