Radisys Looking to Monetize the Growing Popularity of Mobile Video Applications

By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer

Mobile video is just one of the many tech sectors that appears to be expecting an explosion in use of the next few years. While VoIP has become more popular every month, those same VoIP users are looking for something more and it appears that mobile video communications is the next logical step. Mobile video conferencing adoption has seen practical uses for the average consumer as well as for specific fields such as medicine.

Radisys is just one of the companies that is looking to find a way to make a profit off of this growing technology. The MPX-12000 in particular is the newest tech that Radisys has put out that is geared towards making sure their clients have the capacity and the capability to monetize wireless broadband communication including video and voice over LTE (News - Alert) (VoLTE). Video and voice over LTE looks like the wave of the future as people are looking for better and faster connections.

According to industry insiders, mobile video and data transmission is expected to go up over the next few years, with use increasing 26 times from 2010 to 2015. Even better for those companies who have actually found a way to monetize mobile video is that some studies say that mobile video traffic will make up 66 percent of all mobile traffic by the end of 2015. This is just one of the reasons why Radisys’ MPX-12000 is expected to be valuable to companies looking to take advantage of that increased traffic.

Radisys says that users of the MPX-12000 offer mobile operators as well as their application partners an increased port density. This means that users will find that space and network complexity have both been reduced, making putting together VoLTE networks that much easier.

Vice President and general manager of Radisys media server business unit lays out why anyone looking to monetize the growing field of mobile video needs to look into the MPX-12000. “The MPX-12000 is the first product to integrate Radisys’ expertise and leadership in IP media processing technology with our high-performance ATCA open telecommunication platforms,” he said. “This milestone moves our leadership and history of media processing innovation to the next level.”
