Save Mobile Communication Monthly Costs with Line2

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Managing Editor

According to a Pew Research report, an astounding 85 percent of Americans over the age of 18 own a cell phone today; that’s nearly 100 percent of our population. Needless to say, I don’t have to stress the importance cellular manufacturers, operators and carriers are faced with as the demand for mobile communications continues to grow.

Having and utilizing a mobile device these days can provide a user with advantages that can both simplify and complicate one’s life. But with the commodity of owning a cell phone, also comes the monthly requirement of paying the wireless bill that keeps it up and running.

With the need for more than just voice capabilities associated with mobile requirements today, paying your wireless bill every month can turn into quite the inconvenience with expensive voice and data plans and additional overcharges that seem to come out of nowhere.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was an alternative to buying an expensive mobile phone that required an expensive fee that included overage surprises every month? Toktumi’s Line2 (News - Alert) mobile application might be just what you’re looking for.

Line2, which is currently in its third version, provides users with the first and only Tri-mode (WiFi (News - Alert), 3G/4G, celluar) calling app. With Line2 users can place and receive calls over Wi-Fi, 3G/4G data connections and over cellular using the same number.  WiFi and 3G/4G data calls use VoIP allowing you to place and receive calls and texts even when you don’t have a cell signal.

Line2 allows users to call home for free and make international calls for a fraction of the price other wireless carriers charge eliminating the hassle of roaming charges.

The unique aspect of Line2 is you don’t even need a mobile device to use it. Line2 can be downloaded onto any iPod touch, iPad or Android (News - Alert) device. CNN recently reported that a whopping 90 percent of Americans own a computerized gadget of some sort, so if you don’t have a cell phone but do have a participating gadget, you can still access all Line2 has to offer for a lower price than your carrier would charge.

For just under $10 a month or $50 for six months, subscribers can take advantage of all the features Line2 Standard edition offers such as a new local number, visual voicemail, conferencing for up to 20 people, mobile applications, tri-mode calling and unlimited calling and texting in the U.S. and Canada. For users looking for additional features, they can utilize Toktumi (News - Alert) Unlimited or Toktumi Custom for a more in-depth package at a higher monthly cost.

If you do already have a mobile phone, the application is also a perfect way to add a line to your existing phone whether you are looking for a separate line for business or personal use.

Rumor has it Toktumi is getting ready to release a new version of Line2 sometime very soon. Stay tuned to Line2’s Mobile Communication channel on TMCnet for the updated features of the breakthrough mobile app when they are announced.
