FiberLight (News - Alert) has had a nice reputation for forming strong partnerships. It also has the reputation of being one of the best in its sector. That is one of the reasons why so many other companies have formed partnerships with one of the world's leaders in mission critical level high performance fiber optic networks. While FiberLight has had some real success over the last few years, an argument can be made that it never had more than when Amazon announced it would become a new partner.
Amazon has signed a deal with FiberLight to become an Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) (AWS) Direct Connect Solution Provider. Because of this partnership, FiberLight will be able to hook up their clients with a direct connection to the AWS data centers using secure access to the cloud. AWS Direct Connect gives its partners the ability to control their IT infrastructure costs while getting a whole host of incredibly useful IT services.
The AWS Direct Connect also allows customers to access these data centers through FiberLight without having to access the public sector of the Internet. This means a faster connection because of less hub traffic while also having a much more secure connection. Should FiberLight's customers need a more scalable connection, the AWS network can provide up to 10 Gig connections that will increase the throughput nicely.
Fiberlight's President of sales and marketing, Ben Edmond explained just how much this partnership can help his company. “As an AWS Direct Connect Solution Provider, FiberLight will be able to offer customers dedicated access to Amazon’s cloud resources with a secure and highly reliable connection,” he said. “Partnering with one of the industry’s leading cloud solution providers extends FiberLight’s network service platform leadership, enabling secure, low latency, high bandwidth connectivity that drives cost savings across the IT spend of organizations. We simply focus on providing a better way to connect to applications enterprise companies need to run their operations more effectively.”
In contrast, AWS customers can also benefit by using FiberLight's more than 500,000 miles of high-capacity fiber. This product will provide secure connections in the Southwest and Mid-Atlantic regions, both growing high tech corridors.
