Highlighted for being a facilities-based CLEC that powers a multi- 10 Gigabit Tier 1 network as well as various fiber optic network components, master agent carrier XO Communication’s hosted PBX (News - Alert) solution was recently enhanced. The newly added capabilities improve the offering’s level of flexibility and scalability significantly, enabling users who have more than one office to bring together their geographically separated workforce through leveraging VoIP tools.

Complete with the ability to easily access XO's business VoIP service through an Internet connection from all major broadband providers, the XO hosted PBX “bring your own bandwidth" (BYOB) function is “designed to give midsize and multi-location enterprise companies more flexibility in using the capabilities of XO hosted PBX for all of their offices and operations,” according to a report.

When implementing the PBX via the cloud, organizations can reduce both the expenses and the complexity associated with closely monitoring and maintaining a next-generation communications platform. Seamlessly integrating voice and network services into one intuitive product, the cloud-based offering boasts capabilities including: IP telephony and unified communication applications; free local and site-to-site calling; HD voice; IP phone sets from Cisco (News - Alert) and Polycom; enterprise-grade network services with MPLS IP-VPN; mobility capabilities for mobile employees; and a Web portal for command and control and easy service management.

“Customers are encouraged to connect via our end-to-end, quality managed solution, although it is not always practical for smaller branch offices," said Don MacNeil, chief marketing officer, XO Communications (News - Alert), in a statement. "This new offering allows XO to engineer solutions for multi-location enterprise customers so they can seamlessly unite all of their locations and employees on one communications platform."

Telarus selected XO Communications as one of its suppliers and doesn’t take that choice lightly. In fact, the master agent looks at each of its carriers as customers and works closely with them to promote their products and services.

“It's my job to ensure each supplier has ample training opportunities to gain mindshare from the right partners, to ensure their information is showing up correctly in GeoQuote, and to coordinate with each local market to drive activity,” commented Paula McKinnon, supplier manager, Telarus (News - Alert), Inc.

Some other carriers of the master agent are Advantix Solutions Group, New Cloud Networks, Comcast Business Class, Integra Telecom, tw Telecom, Level 3 Communications, MegaPath (News - Alert) and TelePacific, just to name a few.

In related company news, just last week provider of fiber optic high-bandwidth data connections, DukeNet Communications signed an agreement with Telarus that will help it to extend its footprint in the Southeast region of the United States.
