Parks Associates Further Explores IVR Technologies

Parks Associates (News - Alert) is set to explore the implications of gesture and voice recognition technologies. The company is participating in a special session to this end at CONNECTIONS conference where it will explore these technologies including the growing popularity of offerings such as Apple's Siri and Microsoft's (News - Alert) Kinect.


"Siri voice recognition is a popular feature, and nearly 40 percent of iPhone 4S owners now want similar voice features for their TVs," said Kurt Scherf, VP, Principal Analyst, Parks Associates.

The 16th annual CONNECTIONS: The Digital Living Conference and Showcase will be co-located with TIA (News - Alert) 2012: Inside the Network on June 5-7 at the Gaylord Hotel, Dallas, Texas.

Parks Associates will present consumer research and trends during "The Human TV Remote" CONNECTIONS session.

“Gesture and voice-control offerings create new, immersive entertainment experiences and could boost adoption of other enhancements, such as 3DTV, currently in only 6% of North American broadband households,” said Scherf.

“With these technologies, providers can offer unique interfaces between viewer and content, which should lead to higher customer satisfaction and levels of engagement with programming and advertising.”

International research firm Parks Associates was in news last month when it revealed the findings of a survey, according to which more than 50 percent of U.S. Apple iPhone (News - Alert) 4S users are "very satisfied" with SIRI.
