NTT America a subsidiary of NTT Communications (News - Alert) Corporation announced that it is using VMware vCloud Director to offer cloud services to customers.
VMware vCloud Director is a software that offers resource pooling capabilities of VMware vSphere to enterprises and service providers helping them create pools of compute, networking and storage resources with defined management policies and performance levels. This enables the establishment of a common model for provisioning IT services with consistent security, compliance and manageability across public and private cloud environments.
NTT America (News - Alert) sources added that VMware vCloud Director offers cloud services to its U.S.-based enterprise customers enabling them to leverage cloud resources globally to optimize delivery of resources to its internal organizations in a secure yet agile manner.
In a release Dan Chu, vice president, Cloud Infrastructure and Services, VMware said, “We are pleased that NTT America adopted VMware vCloud Director to deliver enterprise-class services based on the industry-leading VMware platform.”
“With VMware vCloud Director, NTT America will be able to bring customers increased datacenter efficiency and business agility by building secure, scalable, and cost-effective private clouds to deliver IT as a service,” Chu added.
Doug McMaster, NTT America’s vice president of products and solutions explained that the use of VMware vCloud Director serves to enhance NTT America’s existing cloud offerings, besides delivering secure, on-demand IT services to enterprises. This allows customers to reduce costs at the same time maximizing hardware utilization.
MacMaster went on to add that there is a significant opportunity for large enterprises and system integrators to utilize NTT cloud solutions. Infosys (News - Alert), a leading next generation IT and consulting company is a partner of NTT that uses this new technology for its enterprise customers.
NTT Communications’ data centers are located in over 30 cities across 20 countries and the company develops and delivers global virtualization services and cloud computing platforms for enterprises and multinational corporations. The NTT Communications Global IP Network provides worldwide access to these data centers, as well as direct connections to major telecoms, ISPs, and broadband providers, said company sources.
Cloud computing platforms help enterprises manage transient, highly elastic, or other non-mission critical applications cost effectively while also providing self-provisioning to maintain optimum utilization levels.
