Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) enables communications through the Internet, and with VoIP phone systems in high demand (especially in business settings, as they provide lower telephony costs), a TechNavio report released earlier this year forecasts the global VoIP market to grow 16 percent during the next several years, revealing that 14 percent of global citizens are currently utilizing VoIP systems for personal use, business or both. In light of this, Giglinx, a provider of IP transit, content delivery network (CDN) and collocation services, is looking to expand its ability to provide end-to-end technology solutions to its customer base. The company is now in the VoIP business, providing customers with a single source for voice, data and unified communications services.
The IP transit solutions provider recently hired Offir Schwartz as its senior voice & data solutions architect. Schwartz is a seasoned veteran in creating integrated voice and data solutions, and will build a portfolio of voice vendors and products to sell to Giglinx’s existing customers and new prospects. Schwartz has 10 years of VoIP experience and four years of data experience with companies such as Aperian/FourthStage and, most recently, Velocity Networks.
“The addition of Mr. Schwartz to the Giglinx team is the next step in the evolution of Giglinx,” said Marcus Mamolen, president, Giglinx. “Over the past seven years we have built Giglinx to be the premium provider in Wholesale Transit and Transport services. With Mr. Schwartz’s expertise, we hope to match that success by offering a full suite of VoIP offerings that are a perfect complement to our existing customer solutions.”
Capitalizing on its aggressive pricing model and extensive provider list, Giglinx can now provide consolidated voice and data services to its customer base with nationwide access.
“I am really excited to join the Giglinx team,” said Schwartz. “I am looking forward to using my experience and relationships in the VoIP world to help Giglinx grow in a new space that previously hasn’t been addressed. Giglinx has a great customer base that stands to benefit tremendously from the addition of voice products in the portfolio of service accessible to them. And of course, we are going to deliver the same value that those customers are accustomed to with the Giglinx data products except now in the voice business as well.”
Some of the offerings Giglinx will now provide include hosted PBX (News - Alert), SIP trunking, wholesale IP (origination and terminiation) and hosted call center solutions.
“It’s a natural progression for Giglinx customers to purchase VoIP services from us, broadband access is the umbilical cord to the business,” explained Schwartz in a TMC (News - Alert) interview. “Once you are selling a customer Internet access then you have permission to sell them all of the other services that will ride over that Internet connection. VoIP is the most prevalent and in the highest demand right now, followed by video and then followed by unified communication services (conferencing & collaboration).”
