IP Phone Maker Yealink Offers 'Affordable' Phone Systems for C-Level Execs and Beyond
By Erin Harrison, Executive Editor, Cloud Computing

IP phones that offer video are increasingly sought after by C-level executives, but they’re often not that affordable for other office workers seeking the same level of functionality.

When choosing a phone system, an organization needs to invest in a business phone system that can effectively connect executives and associates to their global customers.

China-based Yealink prides itself on making its IP phones affordable – a major boon in this protracted recession. Since its establishment in 2001, Yealink has focused on the development of “high-quality VoIP products that are easy-to-install, easy-to-use, high-performance, reliable, and yet affordable,” according to company officials.

A decent IP phone for the everyday worker can be had for $150 to $300, which is relatively inexpensive. However, for business executives, CEOs, VPs, and other high-level management, more bells and whistles such as video conferencing capabilities are in greater demand.

Yealink has more than 50 highly qualified engineers in its R&D department, many of whom are veteran engineers and so-called Yealink pioneers. The company’s engineers are the most valuable assets of the company; they are the inventors of many Yealink proprietary technologies and are constantly introducing new concepts into the VoIP world to enable Yealink to be the first to apply such technologies in their product line, company officials said.

Last month, Yealink announced that Epygi (News - Alert) Technologies Ltd. – a leading provider of feature-rich IP PBXs, voice over IP gateways, cost-saving conference servers – and Yealink completed interoperability test in the Epygi’s IP PBX (News - Alert) and Yealink SIP-T2x series full range of HD IP Phones.

Private branch exchange, or PBX, is an equipment-based business phone system that funnels incoming business calls from a single phone number to several phones by way of extensions and call-forwarding.

Industry analyst In-Stat (News - Alert) is very high on the prospects for business-class media phones. According to Keith Nissen, principal analyst at In-Stat, “We anticipate that within five years, nearly 10 million business media phones will be shipped worldwide, generating more than $3 billion in annual revenue. They are a key to the future of the IP PBX business.”

Upon successful completion of interoperability testing between BroadSoft’s (News - Alert) BroadWorks VoIP application platform and Yealink Standard IP Phones in June 2008, David Chen, president of Yealink said: “As we all know, interoperability plays an extremely important role in the VoIP world nowadays. Broadsoft’s carrier-class software offers customers the scalability, open architecture and reliability. Combined with Yealink’s standard IP phone, companies can enjoy the innovative VoIP solution without any instability risks, meanwhile high voice quality and abundant phone features are guaranteed. Broadsoft’s BroadWorks platform and Yealink’s IP Phones is definitely an excellent choice for the SMB and residential users.”
