Primus Brings Panasonic's TGP600 to Canadian Business
By Steve Anderson, Contributing Writer

Something of a first recently took place in Canada, as Primus Telecommunications (News - Alert) stepped up as the first Canadian carrier to offer business users the Panasonic TGP600 cordless phone. Bringing together cordless phone function with an Internet protocol (IP) base, the TGP600 should be a huge help in improving office communications.

The TGP600 makes a clear case for itself on the strength of sheer mobility. With a base unit that can be the central wireless access point for as many as eight cordless handsets, or wireless desk phones, it offers a great versatility for the small office. The handsets or phones in question can then be treated as either companion phones for the system, or as extensions.

Since the system can handle as many as four simultaneous calls, that makes it particularly useful for small offices. Further, the system operates without needing to connect to Ethernet cables, making it an easy task to place devices anywhere same need to be placed. It also boasts DECT (News - Alert) 6.0 technology, making the calls going in and coming out not only secure, but high-quality in the sound department. It's specifically built to resist interference from several common sources, including cellular, microwave, and even Wi-Fi interference.

Better yet, the Panasonic TGP600 is pre-configured for the Primus Hosted Phone (News - Alert) System, which makes it all the easier to put it in play. That means benefit can be more rapidly realized, and the value of the system will be clear from its installation. A host of calling features also come with the system, as well as an online administration tool, which allows businesses to offer a more professional image regardless of size and location.

There's a lot to like about the TGP600; the sheer amount of versatility involved should prove valuable to businesses with only a handful of employees. The cordless nature and protection against various interferences means the devices can move readily around, and that can be a huge boost to customer service. Throw in the DECT technology and the various calling features that wouldn't be out of place in a major corporate calling system and the end result is a powerhouse system available at small business prices.  That's the kind of thing that's compelling to small business users, who need the most powerful tools that can be had within a certain budget range. Primus offering it, meanwhile, gives the company a new advantage in dealing with the smaller business; if Primus can be the king of small business users, it may carve itself a substantial market niche and be able to fend off much larger competitors.

Small businesses in Canada should be very happy to hear about Primus' new offering, and the Panasonic (News - Alert) TGP600 should give both those businesses and Primus a lot to be happy about.
