WhichVoIP Gives Nod to Yealink's W52P Business Phone
By Alisen Downey, TMCnet Web Editor

While the mobile movement allows many to conduct business on the go, office phones remain a crucial staple of the workplace for most companies today. They are reliable, provide workers with a professional phone number separate from their personal one, and can connect seamlessly to the company’s communication system.

Yealink (News - Alert), a champion of office and IP phone design, was recently received a favorable star rating by the internationally respected VoIP commentator WhichVoIP.com for its innovative W52P Business HD IP DECT Phone (News - Alert). The W52P is a small, lightweight and cordless device designed as an indoor office phone. The compact base unit is versatile for all kinds of workplaces, as it can be wall-mounted to take up even less space, and can connect to five handsets, each of which can independently handle five different VoIP accounts. WhichVoIP noted that, considering these features, the cordless DECT (News - Alert) handset is incredibly useful for workers because it can be kept on their person at all times without feeling like an encumbrance.

WhichVoIP assessed the phone on a number of features and criteria:

Intuitive use: WhichVoIP found that setup and registry for the DECT phone both are “very easy” thanks to the Web management console that comes with it. Other optional settings like auto provisioning are available as well to make management even easier. Navigating the phone’s features is intuitive and straightforward for users. The improved HD call quality makes both internal and outbound communications even easier, and the handset range allows for a practical radius of use.

Battery life: The DECT phone has a fairly long batter life, lasting up to 10 hours on a charge. As WhichVoIP points out, this supports long days in the office without the need to recharge during lunchtime.

Ethernet power: The base station uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) to get its energy, and an auxiliary power supply is also provided. While WhichVoIP points out the potential drawback of the W52P base having just one port, it conceded that wireless use allows the base to be positioned discreetly near a router to help solve the issue.

Tactile button response: Despite the predictably small screen size of the cordless device, Yealink’s inclusion of tactile response of buttons helps to alleviate that. As WhichVoIP asserts, “not having to reboot to make changes is a very welcome feature.”

Overall, WhichVoIP determined that the W52P Business HD IP DECT Phone by Yealink is a solid solution, stating that “those constantly on the move within their place of work may find this to be the ideal business phone.”
