Migrating to VoIP Just Got Easier
By Alisen Downey, TMCnet Web Editor

Communications in the business world are increasingly being made across IP, as it offers a fast and efficient means of connecting with people all over the world, regardless of physical location. And while migrating from legacy systems to voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) technology may seem like a daunting task to many businesses, the process is actually being more and more streamlined every day by companies offering interoperable and unified IP phone solutions.

This week, IP phone provider Yealink and switch technology provider Phybridge (News - Alert) jointly announced that Yealink’s desktop IP phones have now been certified for interoperability with Phybridge’s PoLRE and PhyLink products, creating a complete end-to-end communication solution for transitioning businesses to VoIP.

“The Yealink-Phybridge strategic alliance represents the next phase in the evolution of our hospitality strategy,” explained Stone Lu (News - Alert), vice president at Yealink. “By incorporating Phybridge technology with Yealink SIP phones for an all-in-one offering, the clear winners are customers who need cost-effective solutions to convert properties from analog to SIP technology, such as global hotel chains.”

The Phybridge PoLRE solution is an award winning switch that eliminates many of the network barriers typically encountered, better enabling enterprises with legacy TDM phone systems to migrate to all-IP and optimize their local area network (LAN) for convergence. Phybridge’s switches deliver Ethernet and power over a single pair of wire (CAT3) with, according to the company, up to four times the reach of traditional Ethernet switches, making its switches a powerful solution for businesses with high communication demands.

John Croce, CEO at Phybridge, added, “Working with an industry leader with the scale of Yealink (News - Alert) broadens our market potential and delivers a complete solution that integrates easily with our technology. As more customers migrate to SIP, it makes sense to look for an integrated solution that will save money, resources and installation time. Our patented technology allows us to deliver power and Ethernet with a range of 1,200 feet, over a single twisted pair of telephony cable.”

By forming this alliance, both Yealink and Phybridge will be able to expand their market reach and benefit from the expertise and experience of the other to help broaden the scope their combined offerings. With the newly interoperable solutions from both, businesses will discover that they can migrate to VoIP at a lower cost, and with increased resource efficiencies while delivering enhanced aesthetics within their respective environments. All in all, the new partnership is a win for the companies involved, and an even bigger win for customers.
