IP phones developer snom technology has expanded its partnership with PaloSanto Solutions, a provider of open source unified communications and IP telephony software in Latin America, to certify the snom business phone series with PaloSanto’s Elastix (News - Alert) unified communications solution.

Under this extended partnership, the snom 7xx series and 8xx series business phones are now integrated with Elastix open source VoIP software. snom 710, 720, 760 and 870 phones are the latest in the series to achieve this integration. 

Snom has also become a member of Elastix Hardware Certification Program. Previously snom had integrated snom 300, 320 and 821 models with Elastix.

The certification gives momentum to snom’s activities in Latin America. By offering integration with open source platforms from leading VoIP providers, snom can deliver cost-effective telephony solutions to customers in the region.

Elastix is one of the companies leading the charge with its open source unified communications platform, according to Mike Storella (News - Alert), chief operating officer for snom in the Americas.

Elastix is based on Asterisk (News - Alert), an open source framework for building communications applications. The IP telephony software can power IP PBXs, VoIP gateways, conference servers and other solutions.
