By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

snom's SIP-based telephony devices, in addition to their rugged commercial grade performance, reliability and interoperability, are also recognized as being the VoIP handset partner of choice for VoIP service providers, hosted VoIP, IP PBX and Unified Communications (News - Alert) vendors.

Since the company's inception in 1996, snom has worked with open standards and their phones are interoperable with an array of IP telephony platforms. snom VoIP phones offer VoIP security, including support for TLS and SRTP protocols and VPN capabilities.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the more popular phones snom offers, some of which can be had for under $100:

snom ONE free is a phone system designed specifically for small businesses with up to 10 extensions. Company officials say it’s ideal for “law firms, doctors’ or small offices that need a feature set of a professional communications solution at an affordable pricing used with snom phones.”

In order to maximize the convenience for each user, incoming calls can simultaneously ring any of the snom IP phones as well as connected cell phones, which means an increase in usability for every user.

Company officials say the snom ONE also provides “a huge range of standard extension features such as hot desking, voicemail to e-mail, call screening and call redirections along with presence and monitoring.”

Snom's 3xx series (snom 300, snom 320 and snom 370) are business-class, open standards-based SIP VoIP phones and feature a global executive design and styling with a large high-resolution display screen, programmable function keys and advanced business calling features.

The basic model of the snom business telephone family, the snom 300, “fulfils the most important requirements of VoIP telephony and additionally offers numerous functions that are indispensable in the business world,” company officials say.
