Alcatel-Lucent Certifies Yealink T2XP VoIP Phones for OmniPCS Enterprise

By David Delony, Contributing Writer

Yealink (News - Alert), a manufacturer of VoIP phones, have been granted a compatibility certification for its T2XP series of phones by Alcatel-Lucent.

Alcatel-Lucent certified the series for use with its OmniPCS Enterprise voice communication platform. This certification allows Yealink to become a partner with Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert), allowing them to improve IP communication and broaden their customer base.

Yealink's phones have also recently been certified for use with Alcatel-Lucent's Genesys SIP Server.

“Achieving certification with the Genesys (News - Alert) solution is a milestone for Yealink IP phones,” Stone Lu, vice president of Yealink, said in July. “It represents Yealink’s strength and focus in keeping a foothold in the IP contact center market, while ensuring that our mutual customers have an option to receive dependable and easy-to-use solutions for connecting people in new ways.”

The combined system will provide a cheap and efficient contact center environment based on VoIP. The phones feature LCD screens, the TI Titan Chipset and TI voice engine, and support up to 6 accounts on certain models. They also support HD voice, as well as speakers and handsets.

In addition, Yealink has guaranteed that its phones will work with IPv6. IPv6 is a new version of the Internet Protocol that powers the Internet. The new version is necessary because all of the IP addresses under IPv4, which is the most widespread version of the protocol in use, have been exhausted.

“Congratulations to everyone who helped to make this historic launch happen,” Yealink said in a press release. “Because of your vision, dedication, and hard work, IPv6 has left the laboratory and entered the mainstream. The world has its new Internet Protocol.”

The explosive growth of the Internet, especially in Asia, means that a new protocol is needed if new devices, including VoIP phones. The support for the new protocol is obviously in Yealink's business interests.
