IP Phone Maker: Yealink IP Phones Now Support IPv6

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Managing Editor

IP phone maker Yealink, provider of IP phones in China, has announced that its SIP-T2xP series IP phones are now compatible with IPv6-standard. This compatibility further reinforces the R&D strength of Yealink (News - Alert) phones.

IPv6 is a version of the Internet Protocol that is designed to succeed IPv4 and is an Internet Layer protocol for packet-switched internetworking. The main driving force for the design of IPv6 was the foreseeable IPv4 address exhaustion.

IPv6 benefits both commercial and business or home consumers in numerous ways. From a cost perspective, some features of IPv6 could reduce internal enterprise network and IT operating expenditures. From a revenue standpoint, a variety of refined product propositions will be enabled by the abundance of IPv6 addresses.

Network security is also integrated into the design of the IPv6 architecture, and the IPv6 specification mandates support for IPSec as a fundamental interoperability requirement.

HD IP phones designed and manufactured by Yealink focus on the tendency of IPv6. The approach of new firmware V60, based on IPv4-standard, extension functions and betterment of the cost performance of the phones, makes Yealink successfully realize the target of IPv6 compatibility.

These factors make Yealink one of the few IP phone manufacturers possessing IPv6 support technology and ensure Yealink products sustainability and value-added ability. With new firmware and new features, Yealink VoIP products provide customers with returns of long-term investment and accelerate pace of IPv6 in the world.

The beta version of V60 has not undergone a stability test yet, so Yealink does not recommend a batch upgrade. Instead they suggest users try the beta version as a test before the official version is released.
