SMBs Want Video Surveillance, 'Big Company' Solutions: ITEXPO Interview

By Erin Harrison, Executive Editor, Strategic Initiatives

The video surveillance market has significant opportunities, especially considering market segments are still emerging.

And it’s no secret that Grandstream, which recently unveiled the high-powered GXV3140 IP multimedia phone at ITEXPO (News - Alert) East in Miami last month, is jumping on that bandwagon.

In an interview with Grandstream’s Khris Kendrick (News - Alert), senior director of business development, he said that enterprises as well as SMBs are deploying video surveillance.

“SMBs want the ‘big company’ solutions. So not only do they want IP telephony to save costs, but they also want to protect their assets,” Kendrick said. “And with Grandstream, we’re building that converged network within the SMB where they can have video surveillance, video phones, they can have all of their IP multimedia telephony that they’re used to, but now they can incorporate video surveillance.

Their latest IP multimedia phone – Grandstream’s 3140 – is what Kendrick calls “cutting edge in video telephony,” a multimedia device with social media concepts developed into the phone, including Facebook, Twitter, Skype (News - Alert), Google dialer, to name but a few.

“They can use a Grandstream video phone or a Skype client can call into any one of their video surveillance cameras within the SMB, and they’re very low cost, SIP-based and they support real time streaming,” Kendrick said.

Among the GXV3140’s capabilities is free video and voice calling worldwide. Like other VoIP phones, the GXV3140 allows users keep in touch with friends and family around the world – plus get information that impacts daily life –without interruption, any time of day.

As TMCnet recently reported, ABI Research’s (News - Alert) new study “IP Transformation” finds that revenue from IP Multimedia Subsystem sales will increase more than 100 percent over the next five years – thanks to the proposed deployment of long term evolution networks in different parts of the world.
