By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Managing Editor

IP multimedia phone provider Grandstream Networks has announced that its GXV3140  IP multimedia phone has been named winner in the “Best Voice CPE” category at the Internet Telephony Service Providers Association (ITSPA) awards ceremony. The ceremony was held last week at the BT (News - Alert) Tower in London.

According to Grandstream, the GXV3140 brings affordable visual communications to the masses and allows consumers and SMB/SMEs to strengthen relationships with business colleagues and customers, as well as keep in touch with family and friends. The GXV3140 also combines real-time Web and social multimedia applications with free two-way or three-way IP video and voice calling out-of-the-box. The GXV3140 is the industry’s first desktop IP multimedia phone compatible with both Skype (News - Alert) and SIP open standards for voice & video calling.

A panel of independent judges evaluated the GXV3140 in terms of criteria including reliability, user friendliness, design, diversity and innovation.

“I would like to congratulate the 2011 ITSPA Awards winners and finalists as it has been another competitive awards nomination process, incorporating more entrants from across industry,” said Eli Katz (News - Alert), ITSPA Chairman. “The ITSPA Council is keen to build on this success and welcome all entrants, both members and non-members to participate in the work of the trade association going forward.”

The third annual 2011 ITSPA Awards celebrated excellence across the VoIP and Unified Communications (News - Alert) industry and is open to providers of hardware and software service in both residential and business sectors.

“We are delighted to be named the winner for Best VoIP CPE for this year’s ITSPA awards, which recognizes the best solutions for realizing the technical innovation and financial benefits of VoIP,” said David Li, CEO of Grandstream. “We share this award with our reseller and service provider partners worldwide who consistently embrace Grandstream CPE products that deliver market leading IP voice and video solutions with unrivaled value and user experience.”

TMCnet recently reported on a review by ChatAndVision of Grandstream’s GXV3140. The review notes that the always-on GXV3140 has an integrated Web browser for one-touch access to real-time online information (news updates, stock updates, weather, etc.), thousands of Internet radio stations, social networking, and popular streaming Internet entertainment sites like YouTube (News - Alert) and Last.fm.
