Grandstream Networks and Broadvox Partner for Hosted IP Communications Solution

By Tracey E. Schelmetic, TMCnet Contributor

Good news for value-added resellers of IP phone and unified communications systems. IP voice/video telephony and video surveillance solutions provider Grandstream Networks and unified communications company Broadvox made a joint product announcement today, revealing strategic interoperability and certification of Grandstream’s newest GXP21xx/14xx series enterprise high-definition (HD) IP phones and the GXV3175 next-generation IP multimedia phone on Broadvox’s (News - Alert) hosted IP-PBX platform called GO!VBX.

The companies believe the interoperability will help ease the path and make it more affordable for enterprise customers migrating to unified communications (UC). Value-added resellers and integrators will benefit, as well, finding more business growth opportunities with the ability to install hosted IP solutions for business customers who prefer to avoid the complexity and expense of on-site phone system solutions.

The GO!VBX (VBX stands for “virtual business exchange”) is a hosted PBX (News - Alert) cloud service that runs on a redundant set of platforms, offering increased reliability, scalability and performance to support growing demand and future customer growth. With GO!VBX, Broadvos has taken what it believes to be a unique pricing model for a virtual PBX. By separating the price of the extension license fee from the local and long distance calling usage, companies may be able to realize greater savings with regard to their communications spending. Furthermore, GO!VBX will also help reduce monthly recurring and capital costs for implementing unified communication and can free businesses from having to set up and maintain an on-site IP-PBX, a process that many companies find costly, complex and labor-intensive. Capital investment is only required for desktop customer-premise equipment (CPE).

The intent of the agreement, say the two companies, was to make the switch to hosted unified communications more affordable for end users, and more financially rewarding for VARs and resellers. For the latter two, the ability to mass-deploy devices seamlessly and cost-effectively can be achieved via automated XML provisioning with GO!VBX. Additionally, the Grandstream Reseller Program offers worldwide partners implementing its GXP CPE endpoints, the ability to garner additional revenue through instant rebates (when GXP products are purchased through a list of participating distributors).

“Grandstream is to be congratulated for the successful testing of their HD IP Phones, under the exacting standards required by Broadvox engineers,” said Pete Sandrev, VP of customer experience at Broadvox. “Together, Broadvox and Grandstream offer a high quality IP communications solution for the worldwide market of enterprise-class communication platforms.”

“When Broadvox GO!VBX is deployed in combination with Grandstream HD IP phones and multimedia phones, it results in significant cost savings when compared to other hosted offerings and communication systems that require premise based PBX installation,” added David Byrd (News - Alert), executive vice president of sales and marketing at Broadvox.
