Grandstream Networks Rolls Out Desktop IP Multimedia Phone

By Beecher Tuttle, TMCnet Contributor

IP multimedia phone maker Grandstream Networks added to its line of video-enabled, multi-purpose communication products on Monday by introducing the GXV3175 desktop IP multimedia telephone.

As a next-generation version of the award-winning Skype (News - Alert)-certified GXV3140, Grandstream's new device will offer enterprises and SMBs a host of innovative features, including high-quality real-time video conferencing capabilities, integrated social multimedia and business applications as well as industry-leading HD IP telephony service. The tablet-style solution offers astonishing picture quality, superior HD audio performance and integrated PoE and WiFi (News - Alert).

The GXV3175 is equipped with a 7-inch touch screen color LCD display, a 1.3 mega pixel tiltable CMOS camera with privacy shutter, two USB ports, a headset jack, a stylus pen and a myriad of other features, making it one of the most comprehensive IP multimedia phones on the market today. The device's touch-and-swipe graphic user interface sports a variety of business and social applications as well as a number of infotainment services, including local weather, news, games, online radio, a stock ticker and a digital photo frame.

Furthermore, Grandstream's multi-functional system offers full Web-browsing and support for streaming services like YouTube (News - Alert) and Last.fm, not to mention access to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

"The GXV3175 is an impressive value as it supports HD Voice, multiple SIP accounts, high quality video conferencing with TV output, WiFi, a Webkit-based Web browser, widgets and cloud-based photo album/social network connectivity," Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO and group editor-in-chief of Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC), noted in a statement.

"The 7-inch color touchscreen coupled with a single home button makes the phone easy-to-use, like a smartphone," he added.

In his assessment of the IP multimedia phone, Tehrani further noted that the MSRP price point of $349 offers business users a terrific "bang for the buck."

The intuitive GXV3175 is compatible with the majority of 3rd party SIP devices and leading IPPBX or softswitch platforms. It can be purchased from one of Grandstream’s worldwide distribution channels later this month.
