This silent IA server is the first of its kind to integrate water-based cooling technology capable of reducing operating noise to a whisper level of about 30dB(*1) and is now available in eight countries in the Asia Pacific region; China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia. NEC expects this launch to contribute to the expansion of its market share in the Asia Pacific region and the exploration of new market opportunities there.

Boasting cutting-edge water-cooling technology, the NEC Express5800/110Ca meets the increasing demand for silent operation in noise-sensitive environments such as hospitals, libraries, and schools. Improved server performance enabled through higher CPU performance and faster hard drive revolutions results in higher occurrence of CPU malfunction from heat generated inside a chassis, component wear-out and cooling fan failures, consequently leading to the interruption of stable system operation. One solution to prevent heat escalation is to install additional cooling fans with faster revolutions. However, this approach inevitably leads to an increase in noise level. As the first server to integrate water-based cooling technology, the 110Ca is the optimal solution to noise issues and realizes a noise level equivalent to that of a whisper.

Powered by Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor 3EGHz, the NEC water-cooled server 110Ca is provided with up to 4GB of memory with ECC and three silent-type hard disk drives supporting RAID 5 to offer reliability essential to server products. NEC's status monitoring software, NEC ESMPRO Manager/Agent, is bundled to monitor CPU, memory, hard disk drives and even the water cooling pump status.
