“Just relax! Even if the world knows your password.” This is the message being sent to softswitch users from REVE Systems, a well-known software solutions provider in the VoIP industry. Due to the increase in unauthorized login attempts and hacking incidents in the VoIP industry, softswitch users have been careful and are constantly monitoring their softswitches.
Industry participants often complain of hacking as one of the major challenges they face in running their VoIP systems smoothly and profitably. In order to mitigate such risks from VoIP operations, REVE Systems has launched the iTel Security Device as a secondary level of authentication for iTel Switch Plus customers and to better protect them from hacking and phishing incidents.
The iTel Switch Plus Security offering is an electronic device that generates a one-time password (OTP) which a user must enter when logging in to the iTel Switch Plus. This OTP provides a secondary level of authentication in addition to the standard username and password combination. The special feature generates a unique code, different from the previous codes. Now, even if someone mistakenly or maliciously finds out a username and password, they will not be able to login to the softswitch account without also entering the security code.
According to company officials, REVE Systems is the first softswitch provider to introduce this kind of advanced level security system for the VoIP industry. The company’s iTel Switch Plus, the Softswitch & Billing Platform, is already known for its security – including a dual level protection of IP and Username/ Password that is built-in its access authentication systems.
Earlier this year, the company was awarded a 2011 Unified Communications (News - Alert) Excellence Award from TMC for their iTel Switch Plus.
