Vivox Brings Voice to Facebook, Google Wave and Ning

Vivox, a provider of HD voice services for online games, virtual worlds and the social Web, unveiled the future of communications and its impact on social applications, at the DEMO Spring 2010 conference.


Vivox is launching a new Social Voice Partner Program for developers who want to integrate communications services like presence, voice and text as part of their online communities. Developers who participate will be provided with a Web toolkit, sample code and the support required to transform their social applications into primary communications hubs. Developers will also be able to generate revenue with complementary services including audio advertising and virtual goods.

“With the explosion of the social Web, there is rising consumer-driven demand for integrated voice,” said Rob Seaver, CEO of Vivox.

“Vivox anticipated the emergence of this trend and this new program will lend communications expertise to social application developers. Our vision truly is to ‘let the Web talk’- and let that experience be as high-quality and natural as it is in real life,” Seaver said.

The company takes advantage of the social applications and what they know about users including who their friends are and what they are looking for to provide the right communications service for that moment. This allows people to use their social graph as a personalized communications hub. This is being demonstrated in Facebook (News - Alert), Google Wave and Ning.

“There is an inevitable trend binding IP communications with social applications, as demonstrated with today’s announcements,” comments Rob Seaver. “Vivox has proven itself through partnerships with some of the largest online communities who already rely on us for their communications services to keep their users/players engaged and energized.”
