ClearOne to Showcase Latest Audio Conferencing Technologies

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

ClearOne Communications, a high-end audio conferencing systems provider, will be showcasing its recent innovations at the AVI-SPL University Professional Series in Tampa, Florida at A La Carte Event Pavilion on Tuesday, November 04, 2008.

This free one day event gives participants an opportunity to experience the latest in audiovisual technology, speak with industry experts, earn professional development credits and network with providers.

The audio conferencing industry is gaining momentum with all the recent focus on improving the environment and cutting back on traveling to save costs and reduce carbon footprints. With audio conferencing systems, people can communicate and collaborate from the comfort of their own homes or offices.

ClearOne (News - Alert) Communications recently announced its financial earnings for the first quarter of fiscal 2009 ended September 30, 2008 and reported a 9 percent rise in revenues from the same quarter last year.

The company’s newest product is the industry’s first conference phone for the Microsoft (News - Alert) Response Point phone system, the MAX IP Response Point.

Featuring HDConference audio processing technologies for high quality audio performance, the MAX IP Response Point also has the ability to daisy-chain up to four phones together, providing better room coverage and control.

The MAX IP Response Point conference phones provide the advanced audio signal processing technologies that were developed for ClearOne's professional audio conferencing products. These technologies bring crystal-clear audio to users on both ends of the call, and include full-duplex audio, distributed echo cancellation noise cancellation, first microphone priority, automatic gain and level controls and ClearEffect.

By connecting multiple phones, business users benefit not only from multiple microphones at each phone, but also additional loudspeakers and keypads, providing full-room coverage and control. With all phones connected, the entire system can be operated using the dial pad of any single phone.

The Microsoft Response Point is a small business Internet Protocol (IP) phone system that supports voice over IP (VoIP) and standard analog phone lines and includes a voice-activated user interface. The Response Point system currently runs on hardware available from Aastra, D-Link (News - Alert), and Syspine. The MAX IP Response Point works with all three hardware systems and is the only conference phone available in the market today for the Response Point system.

At September’s ITEXPO, Technology Marketing Corporation’s President and Editor-in-Chief, Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), had the chance to speak with XD Huang , Microsoft general manager and Richard Sprague, senior director about Response Point and how the company hopes to change the communications landscape.

During his conversations with Huang and Sprague, Tehrani learned that Response Point currently works for up to 50 users, but Microsoft OCS is designed for enterprises of 250 and above. Tehrani believes that it is likely that future Response Point versions will be able to handle 249 users.
