FaxCore Goes Emerald Green with a Green Thumb

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

As St. Patrick’s Day approaches,  all things green – including  Leprechauns – are in vogue.

However, while the color green may become a bit de rigueur as mid-March arrives,  it is the environmentally conscious green projects that will carry the color throughout the year.

And FaxCore’s (News - Alert) Going Green Project is now adding even more momentum.

The Colorado-based company has announced it will shift to a new, greener method of shipping products to their resellers and end-users including

Max Schroeder (News - Alert), senior vice president of FaxCore, said that although the company’s previous method was considered “very Green” to begin with, FaxCore decided it was time to up the stakes making its service “Emerald Green.”

“Basically, we have been using our ftp site in conjunction with physical shipments of servers and fax boards to deliver our products,” said Schroeder.

Schroeder, known throughout the Fax over Internet Protocol space as a prodigious prankster –  or at the very least for his sense of humor – said FaxCore’s President Tom Linhard was first introduced to the idea to ‘green up” the operation while having a couple of brews at a Denver pub. The source of his inspirations? Encountering a Leprechaun by the name of Seamus O’Shea.

“Well maybe Tom had more than a couple of brews,” said  Schroeder.

The idea is to use a thumb drive (Seamus suggested we rename it the Green Thumb Drive) loaded with the following components for product shipments:

-- 4Gb Reusable Thumb Drive packaged with a  lanyard and USB extension cable
-- FaxCore Admin Manual
-- FaxCore User Manual
-- FaxCore Installation Guide
-- FaxCore Training Video for Users and Developers

The “magic” of the Seamus’ idea is that the Green Thumb can be included in the shipping container for the fax board and physical servers that have to be shipped by standard ground or air freight anyway.  Thumb drives are light so it will not add to the weight and increase costs or fuel consumption.  Also, many customers are still demanding something tangible rather than a downloaded set of files.  The Green Thumb satisfies that requirement plus provides very portable backup files.  If the customer chooses to load the files on a backup server, then the Green Thumb is available for other uses.

In fact, said Linhard, “Fax server technology is fundamentally Green anyway so we are just extending our Green initiative.”

He also added that there are many business functions like mailing out invoices or monthly statements that save trees, lower energy requirements, and reduce pollution plus saving money.

Of course, these are only a few reasons why companies should install fax servers.  If want to learn more, just contact Max, Tom or Seamus.

At the close of the evening Seamus left Tom with an old Irish saying: “In Heaven there is no beer that is why we drink it here.”  Maybe something you should remember with St. Patrick’s Day coming and implement Green technology to fill your pot of gold.
