Patton Continues to Broaden Edge-Access Multiservice

After carrier-class network access, connectivity and VoIP products provider Patton-Inlap acquired all rights to the OnSite Systems (News - Alert) S10 microMSPP products and technology, the company has been able to broaden its  Patton's edge-access multi-service offering for service providers, carriers and mobile operators.

Along with advance networking, integrated QoS and TDM switching capabilities, the Patton (News - Alert) OnSite S10 is designed to provide advance networking, integrated QoS and TDM switching capabilities for seamless IP/Ethernet service migration while interfacing to any SONET/SDH transport network.

"As the network evolves, core networking technologies consistently push towards the access," Scott Whittle, vice president of Product Management at Patton, said. "OnSite developed key game-changing technology which offers a compelling solution to metro-transport migration challenges.

Now, Patton is addressing the existing OnSite customer base through various channels including by making available the existing pizza-box S10 series and interface modules while immediately migrating the technology into our ForeFront Multiservice Access Platform."

The ForeFront Access Infrastructure Solutions is capable of delivering a scalable carrier-class access platform with next-generation network delivery of narrowband, broadband, and triple-play multimedia services.

In addition, it allows deployment of Patton’s TDM, packet, dedicated xDSL, optical SONET/SDH and dial-up system cards all within a single managed chassis.

Burton Patton, executive vice president of Patton, said the company plans to continue serving customer TDM and IP requirements as they evolve and saw the acquisition as a way to “strengthen our position as a full-service network-access equipment provider by adding metro-optical products and solutions.

The acquisition expands Patton's presence among carriers, cable MSOs, and mobile operators as their needs converge toward packet-based transport and delivery of data, voice and video."

The idea behind the initial deal has already been paying dividends for the Maryland-based company, according to Patton, who says they have managed to continue to service evolving customer TDM and IP requirements, while further their overall position as a full service Network Access equipment provider.

“Our acquisition expands Patton’s presence among carriers, cable MSOs, and mobile operators as their needs converge towards all packet-based voice, video, data delivery and transport systems,” he said.

The Patton OnSite S10 is available in both fixed and modular interfaces and can be used as a SDH terminal multiplexer or Add-Drop Mux. Additionally to its non-blocking TDM switching, the Patton OnSite S10 has full Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH capabilities with VCAT/LCAS as well as full VLAN QoS facilities. TDM and Packet services can both be used at the same time and seamlessly switched.

The Patton OnSite S10 is a flexible and compact SONET/SDH network element enabling the migration, interfacing and networking between next-gen carrier Ethernet and SONET/SDH transport.
