As a result of more service providers investing in infrastructure projects like VoIP services for businesses, the IP telephony market grew almost 10 percent to $782 million during the third quarter of 2009, a new report from Dell’ (News - Alert)Oro Group notes.
Greg Collins, vice president at Dell’Oro Group said, “Business VoIP remains a hot area.”
The market has seen a boost as large enterprises and SMBs are embracing IP communications and UC more than ever, according to Collins.
“Investment in equipment to support these services offers service providers attractive near-term returns and thus, has been a boost to the market,” Collins sad.
The report also noted that Acme Packet (News - Alert) and Huawei led the pack during Q3 as each posted double-digit revenue gains.
Recent research from Infonetics also points to stability in the next-gen voice equipment market.
According to Diane Myers, directing analyst for service provider VoIP and IMS at Infonetics Research, worldwide revenue in the third quarter roughly matches that of the second quarter findings from the 3Q09 forecast reports.
