In an ESPN (News - Alert) interview with Oregon State University’s head coach Mike Riley, he discussed how they achieved a recent victory over No. 1 ranked USC.
Riley said Oregon’s big start gave them the confidence to maintain good field position, score and get established on the ground. The Oregon Beaver’s defense made some third down stops and they played aggressively. Riley said they used their strengths and came to the field with an offensive play they’ve had success with.
“Our running plan going into the game was fairly simple,” Riley said. “We didn’t have a lot of different plays that we wanted to attack USC with, but we wanted to have plays we could repeat and change formations so our back could get used to running the play.”
