E911 Hosted Solutions and Schools: 911 ETC to Demo at National Education Show

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Al Gore Featured as Keynote Speaker

Enhanced 911 or E911 is location-based technology that enables emergency responders to pinpoint the whereabouts of people in distress. This emerging technology is increasingly critical for businesses of all sizes as decision-makers continue to seek solutions to protect their most important assets – their people – while also balancing budgetary needs through the leveraging of existing administrative platforms.

911 ETC, a provider of E911 hosted solutions, was asked to exhibit at upcoming The 2010 EDU Research Group Conference 2010 to highlight the importance of E911 on school campuses across the nation. This conference, which takes place at the Phoenix Convention Center, Feb. 27-28, is the nation’s largest venue for exhibiting and interacting face-to-face with decision-makers and influencers in the Education industry.

Former Vice President and Nobel (News - Alert) Prize winner Al Gore will give a keynote address at the conference.

The Scottsdale-based EDU Research Group aims to provide a needed spark to education in Arizona by bringing together some of the industry’s greatest minds, organizations and technology under the same roof to discuss and suggest improvements in the field. At the same time, it will give students free access to higher education institutions and information from around the world.

“As an Arizona-based company, we are very proud to bring this conference to our home state and hopefully provide a jumpstart to students, teachers and administrators, as well as shine a spotlight on the trends and explosive growth within the education space,” EDU Research Group CEO, Hart Cunningham, said in a statement. “With the collection of speakers, exhibitors, workshops and sponsors we are bringing together, we believe this Conference can have a very positive effect on education, both here and around the country.”

The state of Arizona continues to battle budget issues that have left the state dealing with the reduction or elimination of key programs and services. The state has also dealt with the loss of thousands of jobs and the woes have reached the state’s educational system. Schools continue to face the daunting task of improving Arizona’s rank among the nation’s bottom 10 in many educational categories without access to crucial resources and technology.

As many as 22 states in the nation now have E911 laws in place or regulation pending, that highlight the need for this important technology-based safety feature. The need for this protection is great among school districts and higher education institutions as they are responsible for protecting these most important assets while on their campuses. 911 ETC helps implement the proper solutions to ensure the complete and total protection of students and employees in the educational system.

With the implementation of E911 services in school districts and universities throughout the country, the educational systems are finding this technology enables them to leverage existing systems that will protect human assets and help to promote their safety and success. Those already with E911 services from ETC in place include the Peoria School District in Phoenix, Arizona, CUNY Graduate Center, Dallas Baptist University and Princeton.

Participation in this conference is essential for 911 ETC as it brings the basics and importance of E911 to those it can impact the most within the educational system. The nation is on track to protect its citizens in the event of a disaster and the 911 hosted solutions provider is playing an important role in making the ultimate protection a reality.
