Granicus Manages Growth by Building Customer Service Software Applications on Force.com

To manage rapid growth, 20 custom apps have been built by Granicus in 20 weeks on Force.com. An announcement in this regard has been made by Salesforce.com (News - Alert), an enterprise cloud computing company. Granicus is an award-winning cloud computing provider for government transparency, efficiency and citizen participation.


Granicus required streamlining processes across the company after experiencing a tremendous growth in the last three years. Granicus was able to manage its growth efficiently with Force.com. The company was able to quickly build and deploy multiple applications. Employees are therefore now able operate in an efficient manner. The company has a mission to help governments connect with citizens in meaningful ways. The employees are now able to focus on this mission.

With Force.com, Granicus was able to decrease the time taken to build a sales proposal. With the help of a web-based tracking tool, Granicus was able to streamline product deployments. The company did not require retraining employees when the underlying product logic was changed. With Force.com, workflows for multiple departments across the company were automated. Granicus could also develop applications on-the-fly. This did not tax the company’s resources or budgets.

Rationalized account is one of the 20 custom applications which Granicus has built on Force.com. Granicus was able to assign accounts and run reports in specific regions. This eliminated manual spreadsheets and reports. The campaign management time has also been roughly reduced from five hours to one hour.

A custom recruiting application was developed by Granicus using Force.com. This application is useful for managing open positions and candidates for every hire in the company. Client product configuration and creation of proposals is possible with the sales proposal application. More than 400 hours in development time was saved when this application was created in only one week.

In a release, Jay Kilian, program and API manager, Granicus said, "The secret to making your company successful on Force.com is to find a specific business problem to solve. It's easier than you think to get started with a proof of concept app and then get it rolled out. To manage our fast growth, we built 20 custom apps in 20 weeks and now have our entire company on Force.com."
