Heroku, a division of Salesforce.com (News - Alert), has been recognized as #2 on the San Francisco Business Times’ annual “Best Places to Work.” A provider of the Ruby platform-as-a-service software, Heroku enables Web application developers to build, deploy, and scale Ruby applications while having the burden of system administration lifted from their shoulders.
In an employee survey, which is the basis for the “Best Places to Work” list, employees from almost 500 Bay area companies completed the survey that contained questions about everything from work environment to corporate culture. As a business with fewer than 50 employees, Heroku ranked #2 in that category.
Comprised of a large cross section of San Francisco’s employers, the list combined efforts from the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal, according to reports. Heroku’s employees also ranked the company in areas including corporate philosophy, career opportunities, benefits, compensation, and work culture.
Spawned from Y Combinator, Heroku quickly developed a customer base of more than 100,000 clients. As a division owned by Salesforce.com, the leading provider of customer service software in the Bay area, the company retains its own brand, and has increased productivity and revenue to become one fo the leading providers of PaaS.
