The newest Web service from Salesforce.com (News - Alert) uses ActiveDocs Opus software to automatically insert Salesforce.com data into sales proposals and agreements. Using Data View infrastructure from ActiveDocs Opus, Salesforce is the first company to employ the software’s document creation technology.
The Data View architecture speeds the process and improves the quality of created documents by automatically gathering information and enabling users to create custom Web services. By taking advantage of standard Web services provided by other systems, users can pull data and insert it into documents such as sales proposals, agreements, and contracts.
Faine Mende, president of ActiveDocs North America, stated, "Giving sales teams the ability to easily create documents with confidential and propriety content across multiple company divisions has a direct impact on companies' bottom lines." The technology allows companies to access multiple data sources, both internal and external, for document creation.
Using the easy Salesforce.com setup, users can click a button to create a sales proposal using the ActiveDocs Opus document creation software. After the document is ready, the user pulls data into the document which is then passed back to Salesforce.com. The template is also able to contain business logic, and can alter to the different locations of customers.
Mende continued, "It makes sales forces more agile because they can respond to opportunities faster and in more detail than competitors. At the same time, the company still maintains control over its content because people are not accessing the information systems directly, but through a web service."
