Collaboration Software: Benefits, Results from Thrupoint Ubiquity Service Broker

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The Thrupoint Ubiquity Service Broker is described by company officials as “packaged and offered in a product line that takes your organization from evaluation and development through to validation and commercial production.”

So basically it’s the one-stop shop for you were probably looking for.

Benefits would include a single, open platform for hosting multiple applications and services, performance, reliability and scalability, a comprehensive platform management, administration and billing support, as well as providing a platform for future applications and increasing customer retention through enhanced services.

What sort of results might you expect? According to Thrupoint officials, they can include using existing infrastructure investments to deliver and integrate multiple applications, increasing customer retention through enhanced services and applications, facilitating intercommunication between features and services and any component on the network, improving internal communication and information exchange and enabling all network components to interact without concern for interoperability or disparate standards.

Earlier this month TMC’s (News - Alert) Susan J. Campbell wrote that collaboration software relies heavily on next generation devices in order to drive effective communications across the enterprise. With the proliferation of smartphones and other mobile devices throughout the market, she said, there is also a growing demand for fixed mobile convergence and Thrupoint is offering its Fixed Mobile Convergence (News - Alert) for that need.

Thrupoint’s offering is designed to augment existing hosted IP or premise-based telephony service as it presents an integrated dual-mode mobile client that is readily supported across multiple mobile device types, Campbell said, as well as numerous mobile operating systems. Self-provisioning is extended to the iPhone (News - Alert), enabling users to easily manage provisioning so that support requests with collaboration software are kept to a minimum.

Campbell wrote that one benefit within the Thrupoint FMC is its ability to switch between VoIP and mobile capabilities. This offering enables the mobile device to function as an IP phone when it is within reach of the enterprise Wi-Fi network, or as a traditional mobile phone device when outside.

To find out more about Thrupoint, visit the company at ITEXPO West 2011. To be held Sept. 13-15 in Austin, TX, ITEXPO (News - Alert) is the world’s premier IP communications event.
