Collaboration Software Essential to Seamless Communications

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

For the past 15 years, Thrupoint has been providing session management and collaboration software to companies in a diverse range of network environments. The company’s solutions are built on the Ubiquity Application Server platform and have been deployed by a number of carrier and large enterprise organization. The Thrupoint Server Broker is at the heart of the company’s Unified Communication (UC) technology platform and this robust solution centralizes control over the different forms of communication that occur within the modern enterprise.

Optimized as collaboration software, Thrupoint’s solution delivers the session management necessary across all related communications. And, with the company’s Service Broker, the various infrastructure technologies in place are federated into a common communication architecture to combine signaling, data, security and policies into a single and easy-to-manage session container.

A lack of interoperability is perhaps the greatest challenge and barrier to UC today. Interoperability issues can span across the organization, applications and even vendor equipment. The majority of the applications available in the market today are completely dependent upon a single vendor infrastructure. This creates a lack of choice when it comes time to select the best in breed applications. To make the most of collaboration software, systems and technologies must be able to communicate.

Millions of dollars will be invested by enterprises into applications and productivity tools that face employee refusal and adoption issues simply because they won’t work well within the existing business practices. Or, the employee may be required to learn a new way of doing the same things they have been doing for years. When usability is poor, employees get frustrated. The result is often an inefficient collection of communication silos that limit the organization’s ability to reach their full potential.

Session Management, as collaboration software, offers the services and methodologies necessary to provide the unification of communications services. This platform should create the perfect environment for the combining of communications services, applications and tools to drive collaboration software capabilities. Functions within the platform should be able to register and authenticate users and route and sequence applications, and perform all of this seamlessly. Organizations should also be able to employ SIP communications cost effectively, without losing scalability, flexibility or robustness.

The Ubiquity Enterprise Service Broker with Session Management is designed as collaboration software to meet all of these demands. The offering from Thrupoint is mature and feature-rich to ensure it not only meets the needs of the organization, but that it also delivers the necessary value. As companies rely so heavily on effective collaboration and communications, collaboration software is a must-have to gain and maintain a competitive advantage.
