Cloud telephony company, Ifbyphone (News - Alert) has announced the addition of voice-to-text transcript software to its phone-application platform. This new enhancement will allow customers to transcribe IVR, voice mail and other audio recordings to text through an API.
This is the first time a cloud telephony company will offer customers on-demand access to three levels of transcription quality, including: Standard Transcription for fully automated machine transcription; Premium Transcription to combine machine and human transcription; and Ultra Transcription which includes human transcription only.
"When businesses and developers have a need for phone applications, we want them to know they can depend on Ifbyphone's platform," said Irv Shapiro (News - Alert), Ifbyphone's CEO in a statement. "We're reinforcing that message today by broadening the scope of our phone application suite to include a flexible transcription architecture."
Ifbyphone also added another layer of flexibility to help drive customer adoption and improve satisfaction. Customers can now access transcriptions online, via e-mail with or without the audio message and by way of the API.
Voice-to-text transcription has a number of different applications in both the business and consumer environment. Common uses within the corporate setting can include transcribing voice mail messages, transcribing IVR dialogs to insert in a database for future searches and transcribing call center conversations to monitor for specific phrases.
"We are working hard at Ifbyphone to provide businesses of every size with a single source for Automated Telephone Applications which work with any telephone," Shapiro said. "We continue to enhance our suite with pre-built solutions a company can rent, integrate with their core business processes or extend with custom solutions."
A beta program of the transcription services is currently available to customers using Ifbyphone's voice mail, IVR and API. A 30-second message is priced at $0.045.
Ifbyphone has been active in 2010, expanding its offerings and adding to a powerful portfolio. The company announced at ITEXPO East 2010 the acquisition of Cloudvox, a company that offers "open" hosted Asterisk (News - Alert) telephony applications.
The company also grabbed attention at the end of 2009 when Ifbyphone's Virtual Call Center software was used to bring an outsourced call center in-house, which saved DiabetesAmerica "over 50 percent," while integrating interactive voice response technology to increase patient access to its health centers.
