Networking infrastructure solutions provider ECI Telecom (News - Alert) has landed a multi-million dollar project to help build transport mission-critical applications for France’s high-voltage power environment.

 

The deal with RTE, a French company responsible for operating, maintaining and developing the country’s electricity transmission network, involves approximately 100,000 km of high and extra-high voltage lines and 36 cross-border lines.

 

ECI will employ its BroadGate platform to support the carrier's nationwide utility network, Europe's largest, by addressing the carrier's unique requirements for high quality of service and carrier-class capabilities in the provisioning of real-time and mission-critical services throughout the network, according to the company.

 

Gérard Pellerin, Operation and Control director of RTE, cited ECI’s approach and advanced technology solution, tailor-made to accommodate the touch-points of utility providers, as a key element in the decision to select the company.

 

"ECI’s ability to support low-speed, legacy applications, together with the scalability necessary to sustain future services in a power operational environment, provided us with the optimal solution for our nationwide network deployment,” said Pellerin.
