ECI Telecom Presents Multiservice Converged Platform to the World

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

After presenting its case study “Cost-Efficient Backhaul Network Migration to 3G” at AfricaCom in Cape Town South Africa, ECI Telecom (News - Alert) moved forward presenting exhibitors with its multiservice converged platform for total telecoms solutions.

Yoav Valadarsky, AVP Vertical Markets, presented the study that covered: Business Planning Process; Market and Service Forecast; Underlying Assumptions; Backhaul Network Migration Options; OPEX (News - Alert) Saving Option.

ECI's 9000 Family CESR solution enables service providers to offer Ehternet-based business and residential services. The company’s Carrier Ethernet switch/routers 9000 Family provides the building blocks for the optimal Carrier Ethernet metro network infrastructure, offering highly reliable voice, data, video and VPN services.

Valadarsky also presented "From Mobile Operator to Total Communications Provider: Market Trends, Solutions and Case Studies" at the event.

AfricaCom is a high-level conference with multiple streams across two days. The conference provides both an overview of the general trends of the market, and specialist streams on the key aspects of the telecoms market such as: technology evolution, regulation, new business models, value-added services and marketing strategies. It is attended by senior representatives of the continent’s leading operators, regulators, investors, telecoms solutions providers and analysts.

ECI is also taking part in the Green Telco World Congress schedule for Janauary in Paris.

David Nitzan, ECI senior product marketing manager, will explain how telecos can “go green” and consolidate functionalities into single, multiservice units that emphasize power conservation at the component level, according to the company.

The presentation, “The Multiservice Platform Strategy as a Way Toward the Green Telco” will focus on solutions to the challenges of power conservation while enhancing network performance. The presentation will address practical methods to:
  • Extend equipment replacement cycles for less waste
  • Minimize the number of power-consuming, heat-generating "boxes" to reduce cooling needs footprint
  • Utilize temperature-controlled fans to lower power consumption and noise
  • Turn off non-operating functions in xDSL chipsets and cards
  • Control power supply to network elements by managing distance
  • Develop and utilize “fan-free” systems
  •
Nitzan has 20 years of experience in telecommunications and is an expert on ECI's MSAN platforms and Outside Plant MSAN Products (OSP).
