Call Center Furniture Provider Certified Green

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Interior Concepts, a provider of call center furniture solutions, has announced the workstations it manufactures now meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Indoor air quality standards set for low-emitting furniture.

To achieve the new qualification, the company's products were submitted, tested and approved by an independent testing laboratory.

The testing, conducted by Material Analytical Services (MAS), certifies that their products "qualify for 1 point under the LEED for Commercial Interior program EQ 4.5, credit provision."

“Interior Concepts is confident that whether looking for LEED certification points, or just a healthier environment in your building, our new certification will make you ‘breathe easier’, as we continue to provide independently certified green products,” said President David Kendrick.

According to the company, individual material components and workstations were tested in accordance with the ANSI/BIFMA X7.1 Furniture Emissions Standards and results can be provided upon request.

On January 1, 2009, California will also launch phase 1 of the California Air Resource Board (CARB) and Interior Concepts composite wood products are already certified compliant to the requirements set for these products.

A recent report from McGraw-Hill Construction (MHC) titled "Global Green Building Trends: Market Growth and Perspectives from Around the World," found 53 percent of survey respondents in its research expect to be largely dedicated to green building by 2013

The study also found 86 percent of firms expecting rapid or steady growth in sales and profit levels associated with green building.

"Consumers and businesses are rightly becoming more environmentally sensitive and friendly and organizations such as LEED have gained prominence. Purchasing decisions are being made with sustainability playing an increasingly important role. On the other end of the spectrum many recycled materials can now be purchased even more economically than “new” materials. Thus, the environmental priority coupled with an ever-increasing ability to purchase recycled materials is creating a profit incentive for those companies that approach it properly," Interior Concepts told TMCnet in an interview on the topic of recycling, sustainability and call center furniture design.
